Context and quick tips
愛 is the Japanese kanji for "love" (ai, in hiragana あい). In the anime, the character Gaara is born with this character tattooed on his forehead by his own father as a scar and a symbol of the isolation he lived through since childhood - later it becomes his mark as the Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village. It's one of the most recognizable marks in the Naruto universe and works really well on its own in a nick.
Since it's a real kanji, it renders crisp on any device with CJK font support (basically all modern phones). It goes well before the name (愛 Gaara, 愛 Suna), in a themed duo, or as a single signature at the end of the nick. No need to decorate - the character already carries meaning and aesthetics on its own.
Trivia: 愛 is part of the basic vocabulary for Japanese learners (JLPT N3 level) and appears in common words like 愛情 (aijou - affection) and 愛してる (aishiteru - I love you). The stroke has 13 movements and symbolizes, in its Chinese origin, "hands holding the heart with care".
